Overview

New hires are in setup mode. They're evaluating tools, changing processes, and willing to spend — but that window closes fast.

This Sales Play automatically identifies decision makers who recently started new roles, enriches their contact data, and adds them to a best-practice sequence so you can reach them while they're most open to change.

Using this Sales Play, Apollo can:

  • Identify contacts who recently changed jobs
  • Enrich their profiles with verified email and phone numbers
  • Send you alerts via email and Slack when high-priority leads are found
  • Automatically add them to a targeted outreach sequence

Before you start:

Step 1: Create workflow

To create your workflow, click Show more below, and then Run this prompt in Apollo to open the following prompt in Apollo’s AI Assistant. 

Remember: this Play is built to target VP of Sales job changes. Make sure to edit the "VP of Sales" in any of the prompts below to include the job title(s) you want to target!

Create a new workflow called "VP of Sales Job Change Workflow." Trigger: Detect whenever a contact's title changes to VP of Sales in Apollo. When this trigger fires, send an alert notification by email and Slack. Steps after trigger: Email enrichment → run enrichment on the contact's email. Phone enrichment → run enrichment on the contact's phone. Add to list → add the contact to a designated list (leave list unspecified for now). Add to sequence → add the contact to a designated sequence (leave sequence unspecified for now). Keep the workflow logic simple and linear: Trigger → Notification → Enrichment → List → Sequence. Do not require a list or sequence to be named in order to create the workflow — placeholders are acceptable. Save the workflow with the exact title: "VP of Sales Job Change Workflow."

Once the workflow has been created, check that your notifications are properly configured (email and/or Slack alerts).

Step 2: Best practices sequence builder

Next, copy the Best Practice Sequence Builder prompt below into AI Assistant.

This will build a sequence with

  • 5-6 touch points mixing automated emails, phone calls, and LinkedIn connection request
  • AI-generated messaging tailored to job changes
Step 3: Add contacts to sequence

Finally, update your workflow to automatically add newly found contacts to the sequence you just created.

All contacts with high, medium or low buying intent for Sales Software and AI Sales Software please put into a Priority VP of Sales Job Change list.

Duplicate the existing sequence and call it Priority VP of Sales Job Change. Add all contacts with buying intent to that list and this new sequence.

Once activated, this Play runs continuously. When it finds matching contacts, it enriches their data, notifies you, and queues them up for immediate engagement.
