Wakenya Tulindane is a private sector-led National Drought Mitigation Appeal Fund created in November 2022, and established by the National Steering Committee on Drought Response (NSCDR). Our mandate is to mobilise resources to augment the Kenyan Government's drought response programme, and support interventions to cushion the over 9 million Kenyans who have been struck by drought, and over 5 million facing famine. Our target is to provide immediate food relief to more than 2.1 million Kenyans from 285,000 households in 32 mapped counties.The good news: since December 2022, we have raised KES 1 Billion, conducted 4 phases of food distribution drives in 16 drought-stricken counties, and distributed 115,560 hampers to 690,000 people.
