A Games Like No Other.Second only in scale to the Olympics, these Games are the highlight of a life of competition in most of the world. Now they are coming to America, and to the only town in North America that has played host to two Olympic Winter Games.        In ice hockey, alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle (big air, slopestyle, cross), curling, figure skating, speedskating and short track speedskating, cross country, biathlon, ski jumping and nordic combined. The best in the world will compete on snow and ice that have seen epic encounters and on an Olympic mountain with one of the highest verticals in the nation.        For eleven days, they will gather in New York's Adirondack Mountains and the Olympic Alpine Village of Lake Placid to celebrate, compete, and enjoy a winter festival experience surrounded by the welcoming mountain towns and majesty of the Adirondacks.         Most of all they will celebrate and show what can happen when the young people of the world join together across nations in common purpose.           You are invited to join them at these World University Games to be part of the biggest multi-sport international winter sports event in New York's history:- To see first-hand the camaraderie between young people from all nations- To witness up close the spectacle of the Games' Opening and Closing Ceremonies- To cheer on a national team- To cheer who's who of winter collegiate athletics- To witness the passion and commitment and grace of athletes- To share moments with student athletes that they will remember their whole lives          Our Olympic host village is undergoing a magnificent update. From the legendary hockey rinks, to the slopes of our Olympic mountain, everything that was created for New York's last two Olympic Winter Games is being updated to exceed international standards for sporting venue excellence.
