Our History:The work of the Office of Social & Emotional Wellness began within the NH Department of Education in 2013 with the receipt of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students State Planning, Local Education Agency, and Local Community Cooperative Agreement. The focus of that effort was to consolidate policy development and implement projects and programs that are focused on health and wellness-with an emphasis on behavioral health of all students, youth, and families. Since that time, the OSEW has had significant and successful experience leading and managing large, transformative projects, including both state and federal grants. The Office of Social & Emotional Wellness uses, as the foundation of all of its work, NH's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavioral Health and Wellness (MTSS-B) model. The partnerships created as a result of this work have created an environment of mutual learning and a common approach to scale-up and sustainability that focuses on activities reflective of NH's cultural norms, including that of "local control" in education.
