In the 1960s, Al Gerstel was working as a credit manager in Manhattan,extending credit to apparel companies. He saw how hard it could be to get somecompanies to pay. Collection agents were constantly calling to offer their help. But Al thought he could do a better job himself. So, he decided to step into their shoes and see.In 1972, Al launched A.G. When Al unexpectedly passed away in 1990, his two sons committed to carrying on their father's legacy.
