PAIN MANAGEMENT CONSULTATIONPain is a common side effect in a multitude of conditions and syndromes. The GP vets can manage a vast amount of cases, but, occasionally, pain extends beyond their expertise and requires the input of highly specialised veterinarians. Our initial consultation involves a thorough exam of the animal, medical history, current medications and current pain condition. We can then advise a pain management plan. This plan involves:PAIN MANAGEMENT MEDICATIONPrescription pain medications are almost always a core component of successful pain management. We offer the knowledge and ability to prescribe acute and chronic pain medications that are not standard therapy. PAIN MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES We offer interventional analgesic procedures for acute and chronic pain conditions (within the chronic conditions, neurological, oncologic and osteoarthritis are the most common complains in our clinic). These procedures can significantly change our patients' quality of life in most cases and to act as an adjunctive to parental medications, or to reduce the side-effects of parental medication in those patients with sensitivities. The most common interventional procedure that we perform involves the use of an ultrasound to locate the nerves supplying painful joints and muscles with administration of a long-acting (2 - 3 months) anti-inflammatory medication.
