The Queensland Association of School Tuckshops Inc. (QAST) is a not for profit organisation, dedicated to the promotion and support of Queensland tuckshops and school communities in their endeavours to offer nutritious, hygienic and economically viable food services.QAST provides a professional, responsive and proactive membership organisation and maintains close working links with government, industry and like-minded organisation such as Queensland Health, Education Queensland, P&Cs QLD, Nutrition Australia, and other State canteen bodies.Currently QAST has over 470 members in Queensland. These include:• canteen managers and workers• school community members (parents, teachers, principals, community participation officers, community nutritionists etc.)• health and education organisations• Queensland parents and citizens or friends organisations• food manufacturers and distributors• individuals or groups interested in the health and well-being of school childrenThe Association was incorporated in 1996 and became a Registered Training Organisation in 2009. In 2012 the Association was endorsed as a health promotion charity by the Australian Taxation Office.
