Since its humble beginnings in 1992, Freedom House - Green Bay has been dedicated to the advancement of family life for Brown County's homeless families with children in fulfillment of Matthew 25:32-46. In 2003, Freedom House relocated to its current east side facility increasing its capacity from 4 families to 12 families. Freedom House meets the full challenge faced by homeless families with children, by creating a holistic and tailor-made plan to address the needs of each family. Our comprehensive curriculum, mechanism of accountability, education and compassionate intervention is designed to rebuild families and break the cycle of poverty. Of the nearly 1,300 families and 2,500 children we have served, 92 percent have successfully continued their journey towards self-sufficiency and achieving independence.At the East Side campus located at 2997 St. Anthony Drive, Green Bay, Wisconsin, our 8-12 week program provides shelter, food, clothing and medical assistance while families participate in our T.H.R.I.V.E. classes which include mandatory budgeting and parenting classes, resume creation and development of the soft skills needed to produce vibrant, connected community citizens. All of our adults are expected to pursue employment, permanent housing, education and other enrichment opportunities during their stay under the guidance of a team of trained staff and volunteers.The recent addition of the West Side campus at 840 N. Taylor Street, Green Bay, Wisconsin (known as "The Bridge") provides transitional housing for Freedom House families facing significant barriers to securing permanent housing, child care and outreach capabilities to the growing number of families on our waiting list as well as those families who are struggling and may be at risk of homelessness. Our goal is to continue to work collaboratively with community stakeholders for the prevention, reduction and eventual elimination of homelessness in Brown County.
