The School of Planning and Architecture had a modest beginning in 1941 as a Department of Architecture of Delhi Polytechnic. It was later affiliated to the University of Delhi and integrated with the School of Town and Country Planning which was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning. On integration, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture in 1959.\\Recognizing the specialized nature of the fields in which the School had attained eminence, in 1979, the Government of India, through the then Ministry of Education and Culture, conferred on the School of Planning and Architecture the status of 'Deemed to be a University'. With this new status, the School has broadened its horizon by introducing new academic and extension programmes and promoting research and consultancy activities.\A site of 20 acres has recently been acquired south of JNU for developing a new campus. Another 20 acres of land adjoining this site is expected to be allotted to the School. A development plan for the new campus is being prepared.

Prayag Sangeet Samiti is an institute imparting education in Hindustani Classical music, in Allahabad, India. It awards diplomas and certificates in vocal music, instrumental music as well as classical dance. It was established in 1926. This institution is registered under the Indian Societies Act (Act No.XXI of 1860). The major aim of this organization is to propagate various vocal and instrumental music streams that are widely recognized by state governments, universities and educational bodies. In 2007, it started awarding degrees and diplomas in Minor Subjects also. The Institute is mainly concentrated in North India and has produced a number of prominent artists from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar and other north-eastern states.Its diplomas and degrees are recognized by a number of UGC accredited institutions and notable universities in music such as Banaras Hindu University, Central Board of Secondary Education among others. They are considered equivalent to degrees of Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts at many institutions such as National Academy of Hindustani Music and Bhatkhande College of Music, Lucknow, Madhav Sangit Mahavidyalaya, Gwalior, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Poona, Bhartiya Sangeet Pathshala, Baroda and Indira Kala Sangeet Vidyalaya, Khairagarh.
