Supporting the housed and unhoused of East Austin. A Springdale Park community initiative to rehabilitate, empower and improve the quality of life for long-term residents. The Springdale Park Neighbors is a registered civic association formed by long-term unhoused residents of East Austin. The associations goal is to employ a "hand-up" not a "hand-out" approach by identifying specific needs for individuals, then acquire and administer the resources necessary to help them achieve those goals.Specific areas include providing permanent housing, work opportunities, health and substance abuse counseling. The neighbors also support neighborhood revitalization and beautification projects. Empowering residents to help themselves and fellow residents in a cooperative manner.Working with the support of the NAACP and the City of Austin the entire community is making great strides and healing every day.
