Sight Word Busters trains and places volunteers inside Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classrooms to work one-on-one with students to improve early literacy skills. Sight Word Busters provides its own classroom materials and workbooks for each student. The workbooks are designed to be consistent with the reading curriculum and approach for each school to reinforce the lessons provided by the classroom teacher. Volunteers receive ongoing support through their volunteer coordinators, experienced mentors, and Sight Word Buster leadership. Volunteers receive training, a volunteer manual, and online resources to reinforce standard Sight Word Buster procedures and strategies.Sight Word Busters work in and around Placer County in places such as Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Meadow Vista, Colfax, Alta-Dutch Flat, Newcastle, and Auburn. Our mission is to boost early literacy so that children can enjoy greater success in early literacy and perform better academically, emotionally, and socially throughout their lives.
