Raicho Lodge was founded in 2018 by six friends, who discovered Madarao by serendipity and fell in love with its unpopulated snowy peaks, sense of magical adventure and Japan. We love the snow, mountains and Japan. Our lodge is our way of sharing with you the magical experiences we have had in Japan's famous powder and beautiful mountains.Nestled between Nagano and Niigata prefectures, Madarao is renowned for its tree skiing and deep, deep powder snow. Raicho Lodge, located just a short walk away from the base of the ski hill, is your home in the snow for your next adventure.Our restaurant, hosted by Kermis @ Madarao, features local produce from Nagano, Niigata and the neighbouring prefectures. Other than enjoying the snow, we want to make sure that you also enjoy all the other delights Japan has to offer.Raicho Lodge is named after the Thunder Bird of Nagano, a master of transformation that hides its dappled brown summer shade in winter, becoming stunningly white with full plumage. This transformative bird symbolises our lodge's constant rejuvenation, as well as the region of Nagano, that embodies all the beauty of winter.
