With its service, Nia Health is helping to reduce the burden and stigmatization of those affected by atopic dermatitis. The level of suffering of those affected by this most common chronic skin disease is extremely high.
Nia Health's approach is holistic and targets at helping particularly young parents of affected children to feel more secure in dealing with their child's illness by providing effective, data-driven and medical information-based means to behavioral changes which bring a sustainable improvement during the course of the disease.
Families and the self-impaired with difficult access to high-quality and financially affordable medical care can be offered a valuable alternative to traditional treatment methods through affordable and easily accessible digital support. Nia Health’s software platform has the potential to compensate existing inefficiencies in the healthcare system, thereby reducing costs.
The core competencies from the fields of medicine, artificial intelligence, software and business development necessary for implementation are reflected in our founder and management team:
Dr. Reem Alneebari, Chief Medical Officer, has spent the last few years as a board certified dermatologist gaining clinical experience relevant to this project. After completing her medical studies in Dublin in 2006, she had professional stations in Germany and Kuwait (most recently as senior physician at Farwaniya Hospital). As one of her children suffers from atopic dermatitis herself, Dr. Alneebari has been involved with modern treatment methods for the disease for quite some time, beyond her everyday work.
Tobias Seidl, CEO, has gained six years of relevant experience in management positions: over two years as Founder & CEO in the start-up environment and for the company builder Rocket Internet.
Oliver Welter, CTO, has specialized in the field of artificial intelligence during his academic career. He looks back on 13 years of experience in software and product development. He has 6 years of experience in the Health-Tech sector (most recently as CTO at caresyntax).
The team is completed by 3 employees with an expertise in the areas of operations, mobile development and UI/UX design. Nia Health is a spin-off from Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and currently funded by a public grant.
Nia Health develops and markets a service platform for atopic dermatitis patients. The core product is a smartphone app, which supports patients and their relatives in their daily dealings with the most common chronic skin disease by offering them holistic, digital support. The medically validated content and personalized functions of Nia make people active creators of their health and help them to improve their quality of life.
Around half of those affected are children. Thus, young mothers of affected children in particular seek support and are characterized by a high level of suffering.
Nia Health addresses this need and offers its target group an app as a personal coach. Giving those affected a medically validated and personalized source of information enables sustainable relief from the burdensome symptoms of illness. The next (digital) visit to the doctor can be documented and prepared with Nia. It enables personalized treatment plans, reduces medical costs and avoids doctor-hopping.
Nia Health's holistic approach goes beyond the classic diary functions of other providers and integrates physicians directly into the service. This approach provides the following USPs for the platform:
1. highly personalized treatment plans for people affected by atopic dermatitis,
2. a comprehensive range of services covering all functionalities to guarantee users the best possible support, and
3. user experience oriented to the actual user needs.
The innovative software implementation of these features as well as the personalization of treatment plans by methods of artificial intelligence are the core intellectual properties of the company.
