The first Jake's Toggery store was launched in our home town of Dayton, Ohio. At that time, we knew very well what our fashion perspective was going to be - Classic. American. Style. What we were less sure of was a name to convey that perspective. The "Toggery" part was easy - "Toggery" is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as a noun meaning "Clothing" or a "Clothing Store", and we thought it was memorable. We then chose the name "Jake" because we wanted a name that everyone could relate to, and who has ever met a "Jake" they don't like?!?But there was something missing. An actual Jake! And so in 2017 we welcomed a new addition to our family – a now 110 pound Golden doodle we named Jake – "Jake the Tog Dog", in fact!. Jake has been an amazing addition to both our family, and to the Jake's Toggery family of stores and associates.
