Opole is a voivodeship capital, located in the south of Poland near the Czech Republic (45 min of road) and Germany (2 h of road). It covers an area of 149 km2, with a population of 128 000, and, together with the adjacent 19 comunes, forms the Opole Metropolitan Area inhabited by more than 335 000 people.
