Girl Up is an initiative of the United Nations Foundation, working across a global community of partners to achieve gender equality worldwide. It is a global leadership development initiative, positioning girls to be leaders in the movement for gender equality. Girl Up Hamdard was the initiative of students of School of Law, HILSR department of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi who have been made familiar with the ineffectual laws concerning gender, the silence on gender equality, the need for gender specific law, and their lack of awareness was one of the factors to introduce GirlUp in Jamia Hamdard.In order to provide an inclusive environment and a platform for identifying and learning issues of gender justice, we aim at creating a safe space for youth to share their stories, and encourage them to take action thus providing a supportive environment to develop as leaders. We believe that to achieve a greater cause, there is a need for greater force. GirlUp Hamdard desires to be a part of that greater force. Our aim is more than just equality. It is about enhancing potential, creating leadership, and making youth the real voice of action. GirlUp Hamdard is the guide to the existing possibilities and how to tackle the prevailing challenges.
