GamMed is a UK registered charity, run by UK medical professionals who volunteer and visit The Gambia to perform cases, medical assistance, and training. Furthermore, GamMed sources and sends vital medical equipment to assist the improvement of Gambian healthcare practice.How we make a difference: ① Surgical teaching & training: • We perform challenging cases during our outreach trips to The Gambia and provide teaching and training to Gambian Healthcare professionals.② Supplying much needed kit: • We source non-used medical equipment from the UK and ship necessary medical equipment and consumables to The Gambia, including: theatre tables, anaesthetic equipment, X-ray machines, and more. ③ Radiology teaching & training: • Our radiologists provide teaching and training during the outreach trips to The Gambia and continued support through remote reporting of scans and imaging.④ Anaesthetic teaching & training: • Our Anaesthetists train in regional anaesthetic techniques. This means patients can have surgical procedures without the need for a general anaesthetic.⑤ Physiotherapy: • Our Physiotherapists support with The Gambian team with teaching and provision of equipment.
