United Theological Seminary is one of 13 United Methodist seminaries in the United States, offering master’s and doctoral theological degrees. As an Extension of the Course of Study School of Ohio (COSSO), the Seminary also provides training for part-time licensed local pastors. United was established in 1871 by the Board of Education of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, which was chaired by Bishop Milton Wright, father of Wilbur, Orville and Katharine. Since its beginning, United has been dedicated to the education of men and women for Christian ministry and continues to prepare faithful, fruitful leaders to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
