The nature of the practice of medicine in each era dictates the limitations of medical ethicists living in that time. The embracement of interventional medical devices, micro-neuronal chips, and telemedicine has ushered in an era of healthcare delivery which necessitates a reinvention of the ethics surrounding medicine. A.M.E.B.I. will encourage scholars of theology and philosophy to have direct and intelligent conversation with physicians and scientists of the highest caliber, thereby redefining how we view the human body, the human spirit, and the human mind. We aim to build our Academy to include thought leaders, innovators, and ethicists from a a variety of scientific and philosophical domains to enrich our understanding of science and medicine in the 21st century. Everything is free. Our standards for gaining membership are quite high, but accepted members have no membership fees, no annual fees, and absolutely no publication fees. Prospective members need to demonstrate a stellar resume with a record of involvement in bio-innovation, medicine, scientific research, philosophy, or ethics. Our criteria is based primarily on who you are, what you've accomplished, and most importantly: what you aim to contribute. Each applicant will be assessed holistically. Every 8 weeks, the Board reviews applications and decides upon 5 members to join A.M.E.B.I. These 5 members will receive an initial award from the Board of A.M.E.B.I. once they have completed the required article contribution. Members range from undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines, as well as prominently established physicians, scientists, and ethicists. Potential applicants will send in their application to the Board, whereupon 5 key members will matriculate to the Academy every 8 weeks. Each member that joins the Academy is required to write a 2 page article relevant to their field of expertise which will be published on the A.M.E.B.I. website.
