Naším posláním je zajišťovat bezpečné ukládání radioaktivních odpadů, které v České republice vznikají. K jejich uložení a následnému monitoringu používáme nejmodernější dostupné technologie.\\Vedle provozu úložišť zajišťujeme i výzkum a vývoj v této oblasti. Bezpečnost a ochrana člověka i životního prostředí před negativními vlivy ionizujícího záření je naší prioritou.\\Stejně jako každá země zodpovědně přistupující k řešení otázky radioaktivních odpadů, i my se podílíme na činnosti mnohých organizací na mezinárodní úrovni. Vzájemná spolupráce představující výměnu informací nebo přímou spoluúčast na vědeckých experimentech, stejně jako participace na činnosti mnohých nadnárodních institucí, tvoří nedílnou součást seriózního přístupu k řešení problematiky radioaktivních odpadů.\\\\Our mission is to ensure the safe disposal of radioactive waste that originates in the Czech Republic. We use the latest available technology with regard both to waste storage and its subsequent monitoring.\\In addition to the operation of waste repositories, we also fulfil a range of other functions related to the disposal of all types of radioactive waste and to research and development in this field. Safety, and the protection of the public and the environment from the negative effects of ionizing radiation make up our overriding priorities.\\Just as in every other country which has a responsibility to address issues surrounding radioactive waste, SURAO, as the Czech radioactive waste repository authority, participates in the activities of a range of organisations at the international level. Mutual cooperation through the exchange of information and direct participation in scientific experiments, as well as participation in the activities of a number of transnational institutions make up an integral part of taking a serious approach to issues surrounding radioactive waste.
