With over 1,250 members, the IMA is Canada's largest association of property assessment and taxation professionals. Our diverse membership is comprised of individuals from the private and public sectors practicing in the fields of assessment, consultancy, appraisal, taxation and law. Incorporated in May 1957, the IMA is dedicated to advancing the interests, education and professional competence of its Members. In 1987, the Institute of Municipal Assessors Act granted the IMA exclusive rights to award its Members professional designations, including the Member Institute of Municipal Assessors (M.I.M.A.) and Associate Member Institute of Municipal Assessors (A.I.M.A.) designations. IMA professional designations have become the industry standard recognized by assessment review bodies, the appraisal community, municipalities, school boards, corporations and the public.
