Since the beginning of the prosecutor reform movement, there has been pressure from communities for prosecutor offices to demonstrate transparency and fairness in their decision-making while keeping communities safe. The problem:DA offices seek to meet their communities' needs but lack the expertise to conduct comprehensive data collection, research, and analysis of their internal data. Without access to this kind of data-driven insight, reform-minded elected prosecutors cannot achieve meaningful policy change. Our solution:Innovative Prosecution Consulting (IPC) equips DA offices with powerful data solutions that enable them to make smarter policy decisions and drive transformational reform. We have a team of 9-10 professionals, and we seek to partner with additional prosecutor offices with our truly transformational offerings:• Research: Conduct cutting-edge data-based research that enables evaluation of racial and other socio-economic disparities in prosecutor decision-making (e.g., charging, plea offers) and diversion programs (e.g., Drug Treatment Court, Mental Health Court). Our research team is from American University's Department of Justice, Law & Criminology.• Implementation/Community Engagement: Our policy team helps implement new procedures, gain buy-in, and effect culture change. We partner with the communications team to create a community outreach campaign with updates via videos, podcasts, and blogs.• Dashboards: We assist in the development of Tableau software data dashboards, both external and internal. The external public dashboards are intended to showcase to the community the office's reforms and support transparency.• Strategic Consulting: We also offer strategic consulting to support the office's state legislative agenda.With our innovative solutions, prosecutors can make better, more informed choices for their communities.
