Government Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital - Tirumangalam, Madurai is one of the premier and reputed homoeopathic colleges of Tamilnadu. This is the only Government Homeopathic Medical college in Tamilnadu. It is a renowned, reputed Institution of 40 years old institution. First it was started by private sector at Madurai in 1972. Then it was undertaken by the Government in 1975. The Government College was situated within the campus of Kilpauk medical college at Chennai.It was well furnished and well equipped institution, conducting diploma in Homoeopathic medicine and Surgery( DHMS) 4 ½ yrs course, started with 25 bedded hospital at Kilpauk Medical college campus Chennai. The Diploma batch academic affairs were under Board of Examinations, Chennai. Then it was shifted to Tirumangalam, Madurai district 1982. The First Batch of BHMS students comes under the Madurai Kamarajar University in 1987. Then it was affiliated by Dr. Tamilnadu MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai from 1988 till now.
