Located at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance was launched at UNICEF Headquarters under sponsorship of USAID and the Government of the Netherlands with the understanding that the world's faiths can play a pivotal role in enabling the survival and improved health of children and adults in the developing world. Working alongside faith leaders and other partners, GIWA endeavours towards helping to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to safe, sustainable and healthy Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). In India, GIWA is working to help achieve Swachh Bharat Mission goals in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and healthier communities though on-ground programmes, events, education, eco-friendly toilets, safe water systems and more.
