An Independent Consultancy launched to provide a bespoke service to the UK Defence Contractor community to assist those companies utilising Government Furnished Assets (GFA) provided in support of their awarded defence contracts.The custodianship of high value military equipment during contract periods can have a profound effect on an organisation's profitability and reputation when poorly managed. Having failed MOD audit inspection regarding the management, control and accounting of assets an organisation can be subjected to business dibilitating sanctions such as fines for equipment loss, contract suspensions or terminations. The MOD's Transformation programme has resulted in the withdrawal of advice and guidence support services previously available to support failing organisations. The custodianship of GFA in accordance with Defence Standard 05-99 are complex and difficult to fully comprehend for a Manager or user unfamiliar with these contractual requirements.As an Account Manager/Auditor with the Asset Accounting Centre I completed 52 Audit/Management visits to 36 defence contractors during my appointment. Providing a sympathetic and comprehensive support service I was able to assist all failing companies to recover and ultimately achieve the required standards on subsequent re-audit to regain their status perception with the MOD.Details of my comprehensive support services are displayed at the website.
