Emerson College is internationally recognized as the nation's premier institution of higher learning devoted to communication and the arts. Energized by engagement with the creative life of Boston, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands, our students are independent minds from diverse backgrounds who develop their own personal voice and expertise in professions that profoundly shape society and culture in the 21st century. ----- For a unique educational experience in communications and other liberal and fine arts, Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, is a great choice. Student life at Emerson is centered on creativity. Campus events and activities like theatre and musical performances and gallery exhibits are hosted frequently. Its location in Boston also provides additional resources with its many museums, theatres, bookstores and galleries. Academics at Emerson primarily consist of artistic specializations. Undergraduate majors are offered in Communication Arts, Filming, Creative Writing, Stage Production and many more. Graduate degrees are also available in Journalism, Publishing and Writing, Global Marketing Communications and Advertising and more. Students may also take a one-year certificate program, available in a wide variety of fields from Graphic Novel Writing to Playwriting. Admissions require students to complete both a Common Application and an Emerson application, submit official high school transcripts, a teacher evaluation and ACT/SAT scores and choose a field of concentration. Students seeking degrees in Performing Arts, Film and the Honors Program are required to send in additional materials. Merit scholarships are offered to eligible students to help cover the cost of tuition. Students who complete a FAFSA application will also be considered for federal financial aid through the form of scholarships, student loans and work study programs.
