Choices is an independent charity staffed by trained volunteers. It is a Christian-based organisation which works from a Christian ethos of care, compassion and respect. .Choices counsellors, like anyone, have their own personal views but as trained counsellors undertake to provide non-judgmental counselling.With respect to crisis pregnancy counselling, counsellors are trained to accurately present the options and to aid clients with the decision-making process whilst in crisis. The goal is to help clients discover their own thoughts and feelings and to make their own informed decisions.For those experiencing post-abortion distress, counsellors are trained to use a ten step recovery programme. This is for use with clients with or without a personal faith. A counsellor's goal is to listen with compassion and to accompany clients on their journey as they examine and deal with their responses to their abortion experience.Choices is one of 160 crisis pregnancy centres around the UK affiliated to CareConfidential. CC is a Christian-based national organisation which provides training and materials for crisis pregnancy centres. It is also responsible for the crisis pregnancy and post-abortion national helpline – CARE Confidential. CC is a department of the national charity CARE (Christian Action, Research and Education). CC is not a campaigning organisation and does not have a political agenda.Choices volunteers also present a Sex and Relationships education programme called ‘Evaluate' for local secondary schools as part of the Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE) curriculum.
