The Centre is a not for profit Community Interest Company established to facilitate the creation of communities to become self-sufficient, publicly engaged, more resilient, cohesive and sustainable.The Centre has been established in response to developments that include:• Communities facing enormous challenges as a result of the national deficit and cuts in funding • The focus by Government to promote "Big Society -bottom up" approaches driven from within communities • An assumption that local authorities will want to continue to play a role in shaping and supporting their communities• A wish to build strong societies using new competence powers and developing the Total Place Agenda. • Recognition that "one model fits all" approaches are inappropriate to meet future community needs.Our activities include providing forums and events to exchange ideas and develop new ways of supporting communities. We are also able to facilitate change both corporately within the public sector and at a local street and neighbourhood level within individual communities.
