The American University Legislation & Policy Brief ("AULPB") took its current name in 2018. Prior to becoming the AULPB, the Brief was created in 2008 as the Legislation and Policy Roundtable to provide a legal analysis of current legislative initiatives and policies through an entirely student-run publication, and to encourage meaningful debate through the Brief's panel series, which has since been replaced with the Brief's annual symposium. The AU Legislation & Policy Brief continues to build upon the legacy of the Roundtable by hosting an annual symposium at the AU Washington College of Law, and by publishing articles and features written by lawmakers, practitioners, professors, and law students alike, bi-annually. The AULPB was the first (bipartisan) law school publication in Washington D.C., dedicated to highlighting the most influential legislation and policy-based contributions to the national and global communities.In 2011, the Editorial Board started The AULPB Blog. The online blog provides readers and staff members the ability to discuss and analyze a greater diversity of issues as they occur. The Brief's written publication and online blog are not confined to one specific subject area, distinguishing AULPB from other law school student-run publications. The AULPB covers legislation and policy in several areas, including, but not limited to, banking, budget, campaign finance, criminal justice, employment, energy, environment, finance, foreign relations, labor, national security, politics, tax and trade.
